A message to my father

“I love you, I have always loved you”

The abandoned words you whispered to me on that gray June day
If that were so why did you run? I heard your story. An explanation still was none.
For 19 years I thought of you
For 19 years you were dead. Now your back. Those 19 years are lost

You mean so much to me, all the love you now give me
Could I ever call you father?

It’s easy to call me your daughter
Blame it on my mother. Blame it on my father
At least she was there at least she saw me rise and fall then Rise and fall again
